Tuesday Music Release: The Water (Trust In Him)

Wow… this might be the song I get the most questions about.
People always ask, “What does this song mean?” So here’s a short written explanation. A longer video breakdown is coming soon.

In many of my songs, the vocals function more like instruments than traditional lyric delivery. This track is a perfect example. There are really only three phrases in the entire song, repeated, layered, and blended together.

Here’s the idea: don’t think of the words as lyrics. Think of them as actors in a play about life.

The song represents a relationship, any relationship.

  • Actor 1 is Partner One.
  • Actor 2 is Partner Two.
  • Actor 3 is God’s Grace.

All three are essential ingredients.

As in real life, the two partners come together with their own personalities, what they say, how they say it, their habits, quirks, and rhythms. Meanwhile, “life” (represented by the violins running throughout the track) keeps moving. Eventually, the couple hits friction or falls out of sync. That’s where God’s Grace enters, helping them navigate those moments.

You’ll notice that Actor 1 begins making adjustments, trying to come back into alignment. With God’s Grace, the two partners gradually find their rhythm again. They’re still themselves, still quirky, still imperfect—but now more in sync. The same, but different.

Soon, they’re moving together, enjoying life, even dancing through the EDM section in the middle of the song, a long stretch of harmony. But that doesn’t mean they’ve “arrived” or no longer need grace. As the song winds down, life (the violins) returns, and God’s Grace remains present with them.

I hope that helps the song make more sense.
Just remember: this is all coming from the Mind of Jarrod L. Edge.” Enjoy!
